"la Catedral" the principal church of Havana, was built in 1788 and is very near to La Bodeguita del Medio.
This is an interesting photo:
In a corner of Old Havana (Catedral Square), two tourists, probably from Europe, consult a "Santera". At both sides boxes of American apples.
The Cristo of Havana was constructed between 1957-58, the artist was Gilma Madera, from Matanzas province, it was by the initiative of Martha Batista, wife of Fulgencio Batista.
"The fountain at Plaza de San Francisco, in Old Havana. Behind the fountain is La Basilica Menor de San Francisco. It was a Church many years ago, but now is a Concert Hall, with very good acoustics, mainly used for Musical Sacra (sacred music). See photo below. We have some musical groups that only do this kind of music, with very good quality."
"At the side there is a garden dedicated to Madre Teresa de Calcutta, an also to Princess Diana. This area of Havana is really very clean, but that is not the rule here. In this area, which has been declared as Patrimonial Mundial de la Humanidad, by UNESCO, all the people take great care. All the people in the world that come here say that this the better conserved historically, better than Cartagena and San Juan."--Marisol
Another view of the Basìlica Menor de San Francisco, this is the front. Because the street is so narrow, it is not possible to take a full face view.
